LESSON #9: DIET, METABOLISM AND ENLIGHTENMENT

9.1: ENERGY IS ESSENTIAL FOR SUCCESSFUL MEDITATION. Every person is different, but it is safe to assume that most people encounter many problems and limitations when starting on the sacred journey to enlightenment. In yoga, much effort is usually required before the aspirant reaches his or her goal of self-realization and eventually God-realization as a continuous state that never stops. And, how many people actually reach that goal? The difficulties must be immense, because I do not see very many truth seekers actually reaching that point of full enlightenment. I instead see lots of people fighting over absurd and trivial things! Most people just eventually give up! To become fully enlightened normally would require an extraordinary
combination of the most ideal circumstances, as well as an abundance of very positive traits, self-discipline, endless determination, tremendous devotion, perfect physical and mental purity, and a finely tuned, extremely efficient metabolism. So much is required that the grace of God (or Guru) is also needed!

9.2: A SCIENCE OF NUTRITIONAL BIOCHEMISTRY SHOULD ALSO BE DEVELOPED FOR THE NEEDS OF THE SPIRITUAL ASPIRANT. A great deal of importance is placed on the science of energy metabolism and nutritional support for daily living, but not much seems to be known on the essential role of metabolic pathways in successful meditation practice. Certain foods, food supplements, antioxidants, etc. can have an enormous effect on your overall spiritual potential. Unless you are a natural yogi, saint or avatar (rare!) you are going to require very special nutritional support for your nerves and endocrine glands. Finely tuned biochemistry plays a vital role in the dynamics of high yoga which has been largely neglected in favor of less specific truths of diet, vegetarianism, yoga thinking and popular psychology. Trying to experience the incredibly sweet higher melodies of pure, selfless love and devotion is impossible without a finely-tuned instrument.


9.3: METABOLISM MUST BE EFFICIENT BEFORE THE EGO CAN BE TRANSFORMED BY COSMIC ENERGY. The enlightenment process is a subtle change in the physical body, which normally can take place only under the most ideal, and balanced circumstances. I believe strongly, that the biochemistry has to be just right for divine and spiritual aspects of life to descend into and dissolve the normal, physiologically limited dimensions of the mind. This reformation of the physical, limited ego-self into its unlimited divine Self must occur over and over until the ego is transformed permanently by this higher state of consciousness that extends beyond all mortal limitations.

Fasting on ionized water and dolomite, a nearly all raw food diet of large quantities of fresh fruits, greens and vegetables, cooked eggs, hemp seed milk, soy milk, coral calcium, food grade yeast (for phosphorous and B complex), rice milk, legumes, super-foods, supplements, ground raw oats (including 12% pumpkin seed, almonds, sesame, sunflower seed, etc.) help to provide the essential foundation for this process to take place. Spiritual Energy and the Pranic Principle

There seems to be a universal field of prana in our atmosphere and throughout all of space and time in the Universe. Prana is a Sanskrit word meaning "life" in the context of a "life force" or "vital energy" that fills all living beings with vibrant health and all of nature with a living essence. Prana seems to correspond with the much subtler parts of the Universe such as the spiritual realms. There are many, many names for and aspects of this substance, just there are many names for God, and many aspects of God. Even mainstream science has long postulated the existence of a kind of "ether" that must be responsible for the transmission of light. Later on this "ether" was more accurately defined as some sort of multidimensional geometry of space in a vibrational state.





9.4: SUBTLE ATMOSPHERIC AND EARTH CURRENTS CAN BE CHANNELED BY THE BODY. Regarding this subtle electrical force that runs through every cell of the body, when fully awakened, it starts to transform metabolism from a food oxidizing metabolism into a subtler "electric" metabolism where cells rely more completely on cosmic energy. The breath starts to slow down and the aging process caused by free-radicals in the oxidation of fats, proteins and sugars is also reduced. St. Matthew 4:4 states: "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." Here, I interpret this scripture as referring to the primary vibrations of creation where nourishing, healing energy "bubbles up" from the finer, more conscious levels of reality as sources of energy for the creation and maintenance of causal, astral and physical planes and all the beings that reside within them. The "Word" of God is a source of inner, healing nourishment, bliss and higher consciousness for all. Jesus found great comfort and nourishment in the way of higher chakras from this subtle Divine Sound current during his long fast in the desert. In a wilderness area, vast amounts of subtle earth and atmospheric energy currents can flow unheeded by the disturbing forces, counter-currents, and disrupting thought patterns of buildings, worldly people and civilization. Christ was subtle enough to draw upon this "ionospheric" energy as a source of cellular electrical energy. But until we can fully benefit from this remarkable yet very natural way to obtain energy, an extremely efficient metabolism has to be established.


9.5: HIGHEST METABOLIC EFFICIENCY IS NEEDED TO SPIRITUALIZE THE PHYSICAL EGO. A rare state of metabolic suspension can occur when digestion is completed and the tissues and organs are well stocked with a good supply of stored energy. When the blood is purified and made more alkaline from regular drinking of negatively ionized water, this state comes even closer. While one is just sitting, and relaxed, breathing normally slows down and metabolism starts to "coast" along. This physiological state is the most ideal state to start with in meditation. In this state of restful balance, it is easiest to feel centered in wholeness and to redirect the life-force upward through the spine to provide power to the higher chakras.

One can then start receiving more and more of these atmospheric energy currents that surround us, especially through the throat chakra and medulla oblongata (polar opposite of third eye) at the back of the head, base of skull just above the neck. Through regular meditation (perfect stillness of mind) and immersion into cosmic consciousness, the aura becomes strong and starts to "funnel" in subtle cosmic energies from a great distance. This may be the way a true breatharian "eats". But until that point is reached, one must depend almost entirely on fresh, raw, physical food. A subtle physical change must occur more and more each time as the divine Self descends into and merges with the normally limited physical ego, gradually transforming it into a divinized ego that transcends more and more the mortal limitations of the physical mind until, one day, one is permanently established in the immortal, timeless Self within.


9.6: GETTING INTO "ORBIT" IS RARE. Nirvikalpa samadhi is normally very difficult or unusual for anyone to achieve. One must maintain just the right metabolic balance to enter into this wondrously high state of cosmic consciousness. In such a state, the body is motionless, the breathing has stopped, the mind is still, and the soul is free to expand outwards in all directions. Like being high above the earth in orbit, this state of nirvikalpa samadhi is delightful, ecstatic and most desirable to be in, but too high a state to reach for most people. How many people have a neighbor who can achieve this wondrous state without killing himself? It is very similar to death, only that there is no illness, injury, nor danger or fear of dying, only an extraordinary transformation into God-realization, and an extraordinary opportunity to consciously "die" daily, until one is absolutely free of the cycle of birth, suffering, death and reincarnation. The Saints say that the best opportunity to find God is NOW while still in your present body. It is not wise just to rely on faith that someday you go to heaven. Yes, one may very well go to heaven but the quality and length of that duration in heaven could ultimately terminate with another physical birth. Regardless of whether or not this is true, why on earth rely on faith alone when you could master meditation enough to go there BEFORE you die and secure for yourself a permanent home within the most glorious levels of existence? Why wait until you die, not really knowing what will happen then?

9.7: BALANCE OF PROTEINS, NATURAL FATTY ACIDS AND COMPLEX CARBOHYDRATES ESSENTIAL FOR OPTIMUM ENERGY: Most aspirants on the path eventually give up before approaching higher states of consciousness and then, out of frustration, go on to something else or just settle into a rather boring, life-long routine of tedious and maybe at best somewhat enlightening meditations, thinking if they continued meditating in this way for enough lifetimes(?!) they will eventually reach enlightenment. After all isn't patience a wonderful virtue to have? As far as I'm concerned, several lifetimes does not fit very well in my busy schedule!

I wonder, is it the practice of yoga or the people at fault? I think, in most cases, the problem lies mainly in the biochemical makeup of one's physiology, its degree of purity and how well it can be recharged with vital energy and sustain that charge. The fuel, for it to propel the devotee upwards to any decent height, must be a properly balanced mixture of all the right ingredients: Please go here to discover what is the latest and most perfectly balanced regimen for this effect. 9.8: IMPORTANCE OF NATURAL FATTY ACIDS: Without a sufficient supply of natural fatty acids, some people could end up in a nervous breakdown, suffering from fatigue, anxiety, depression, and possibly anorexia. Brain cells cannot function as efficiently if not enough fatty acid metabolic by-products are available. Therefore, I am concerned about the widespread misunderstandings and abuses of natural fats. People who try to lose weight by drastically cutting out their fat intake or think they are fighting cholesterol and heart disease by eating margarine instead of butter may be in for a real unpleasant time.

In the past, many diet books and "gurus" have been extremely anti-fat. This is both a good thing and a bad thing. It is good in that more meals high in protein, fruits, vegetables and fiber are eaten in place of low fiber, high fat foods such as cheese; bad in that the widespread reduction in essential fatty-acid intake does not include eliminating the most harmful fats high in "trans" fatty acids (such as margarine) and dangerous polyunsaturated cooking oils which are highly unstable, over-processed and full of cancer-causing peroxides rather than butter which is high in very stable saturated fat. Nuts and seed are also mistakenly thought of as being too high in calories and fat, without realizing that they are also very high in fiber, essential and mono-unsaturated fatty acids, and full of other heart-healthy, weight controlling, and appetite stabilizing nutrition. Could it explain why so many people these days have reduced hormone levels with corresponding sexual problems, and have such a "short fuse," and perhaps why good, solid, and loving relationships are so hard to find, while marital discord and divorces so common? In order to avoid serious mental imbalances, hormonal and other deficiencies, many people need fats in large quantities, but should obtain them only through whole, natural food such as fresh flax, sesame, sunflower, and pumpkin seed, almonds, pecans, along with oil-soluble antioxidants such as dry (oil free) vit. E and perhaps the powerful antioxidant, oil soluble form of vitamin C, ascorbyl palmitate to help prevent the build-up of free radical activity often associated with essential fatty acids. These natural food sources of fatty acids and phospholipids (also cholesterol from eggs if one experiences no problems with them*) are basic to bliss consciousness, freedom from (food, drug, and emotional) addiction, and proper functioning of the entire endocrine gland system.

*Many spiritual paths recommend that eggs not be included in the diet as they are too "rajasic" or stimulating to the mind in that they cause too many restless thoughts, desires, etc.


9.9: RECOMMENDED HIGHLY NUTRITIOUS RAW FOODS FOR SPIRITUAL POWER:

Try to avoid all vegetable oils. If you really feel you have to have vegetable oils, use fresh, unrefined, cold-pressed flax seed oil which contains the highest levels of all the essential fatty acids. Use only those oils that are fresh, virgin, cold-pressed, unbleached, unrefined, uncooked, unprocessed, 100% natural organic, and refrigerated if at all. It is absolutely shocking what is done to regular commercial vegetable oils these days to give them extra shelf life and cosmetic appeal. Avoid commercially bottled oils like the plague! Like margarine, most of the commercial oils are proven to be a major factor in heart disease, stroke and cancer. Some, of course are much better than others, but I would still avoid all of them completely.

9.10: SIGNIFICANCE OF RAW FOODS: Note that those foods that are not a complete protein are best combined with each other (such as rice with legumes) and with those that are complete all in equal amounts otherwise one would tend to overeat to compensate for the lack of one or more essential amino acids resulting in indigestion, inefficient metabolism, toxicity, and tiredness. Most of the food listed above is raw or at least partly raw food. From experience, I know that cooking a food destroys some subtle and very essential substances that the body must have for optimum high level wellness, inner comfort and emotional stability. When cooked, the food becomes "flat" or "dead." Any foods that can be eaten raw, try to eat raw, especially nuts, fruit, certain vegetables, seed, oats, wheat germ, herbs and of course plenty of whole raw pasture grazed butter if you are not sensitive to dairy products.


9.11: SUBTLE ESSENCE OF RAW FOODS ARE ESSENTIAL TO LIFE. In whole, raw foods, there are subtle biochemical mixtures and substances of high biological value. Raw fertile eggs*, for example, contain everything needed to produce a living, breathing chick! Can you imagine how beneficial to health and rejuvenation such living proteins must be? There is an obvious, but subtle life principle in a living, raw egg that is completely destroyed when cooked. A similar thing happens with any living thing that is killed by heat. Until they are roasted, boiled or cooked, raw seeds have the power of life in them and can become a living plant. A raw, living seed contains a very special force-- rather like the living life-force-essence of vital fluids inside a human being. Bee pollen is the living genetic material of many plant species combined. These and other foods previously listed are super-foods to aid you to find your maximum level of wholeness.

If you feel inclined to use raw eggs please be careful. CAUTION: crack open eggs into separate container first and make sure they are fresh (with no unpleasant odors) before adding to rest of recipe! Be certain that the eggs you buy are fresh and free of any toxin-producing bacteria: especially salmonella! Use only fertile eggs from healthy range-fed hens! NEVER give raw eggs to very young children or to the very old and infirm.


9.12: THE OBSESSION WITH WEIGHT CONTROL: I must mention something about the absurdity and sadness I feel toward those battling the "battle of the bulge." I feel the approach of all diets and dieting is completely and utterly wrong. Reducing calories (especially in the form of fats and essential oils) slows down metabolism, increases hunger frustration and depression, and forces the body to increase even more of its ability to store away fats! 100% pasture grazed raw whole butter is high in conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) which is being sold as a potent weight control supplement! It would make much more sense to me to try to speed up metabolism with herbs, supplements and daily exercise and eat only 100% whole (mainly raw) foods that are naturally high in fiber while avoiding all junk food and sugar laden commercial menu disasters. Take foods high in complex carbohydrates such as rice, some beans or lentils, some raw nuts and seed, and foods high in living enzymes, vitamins and minerals and make it a habit to drink loads of water without cutting out the essential fatty acids the body needs for vital hormones. There are many fat-burning substances available at every health-food store such as CLA, CoQ10 and L-carnitine. A regular exercise routine helps speed up fat metabolism. It is the constant snacking, junk food, and all that very addicting high fructose corn syrup used to flavor commercial, junk food, sugary white bread, hamburgers laden with growth hormones, and TV dinners that overwhelm the body with far more calories than it needs. A certain percentage of every meal from that kind of food remains permanently in the gut as a non-digestible intestinal coating which builds up over time causing the stomach to bulge out and various diseases to finish one off.

For some people, a "Dr. Atkins" approach works really well. All carbohydrates are limited and the diet made abundant in proteins from fish, turkey, chicken, and high in fiber/water content fruits and vegetables. The diet would be high in vegetables, fruit, protein, fats and fish oils. I once used a similar approach, not to lose weight, but to feel better--and it worked! My present regimen could be said to be based on a RAW, vegetarian version of the Dr. Atkins diet. I feel so satisfied after I eat that I often don't feel like eating for another 24 hours!--saving me time, money and trouble.




Breatharianism and Pranic Nourishment

The purpose of this book is to make others aware of the fact that inedia is possible, but not necessarily as a means to become a breatharian "living on light" yourself. The popular idea that breatharians simply "live on air" or even worse, "live on nothing" is misleading. Successful breatharianism which is really quite rare is the result of training the energies of the astral body and cells of the physical body over many, many years (or lifetimes?) to obtain nourishment directly from quantum energy. At the subatomic level, energy can never be used up, and if it is somehow lost, it is immediately replaced by more quantum energy. It may be possible for certain cells in the human body to obtain nourishment from scientifically unknown sources such as astral, spiritual and quantum.





9.13: FOOD CRAVINGS CAN BE AVOIDED. In most cases, the body should be able to correctly regulate its own weight, metabolism and appetite ONLY if it is given the vital herbs, correct balance of whole food complex carbohydrates, fats and essential oils, protein and enzymes that it needs. Naturally, the body will crave just about anything UNTIL it gets the proteins, fats, carbs, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, hormones, water, etc. it truly needs to feel RIGHT, comfortable, fulfilled and balanced within itself anyway. Going against one's basic instinct for complete nutrition is NO way to loose weight.

If you are not feeding your body the correct proportions of highly nutritious, balanced amounts of the above categories of whole foods and herbs at every meal, then you can expect cravings of some kind or another to drive you into a snacking binge. The craving to snack on something during what should be a long period between what should be whole, complete meals is a warning signal. Imbalances of metabolism and biochemical chaos is likely to create havoc on your appetite and emotions. Food cravings and emotional disorders or even drug and other addictions often come together. Appetite and emotions are very closely interrelated as they are located in very much the same areas of the brain and these are often at the basis of very serious chemical addictions.

I see the widespread obsession with food and seasonings as the universal attempt to get whatever nourishment is left out of killed, cooked, dead, dehydrated, preserved, pickled, fried, and other denatured, processed and devitalized health-disaster "delights." I am concerned about society in that, ultimately its quality and good-naturedness can't possibly be any better than what it eats!

You must compensate to your individual metabolic needs accordingly. Try eating mainly complex carbohydrates, protein and raw vegetable foods high in bulk and water content, but NEVER eat incomplete meals. Meals lacking in any of the four essential elements (including any of the essential minerals and trace elements) will cause one to snack later, most likely on an incomplete food causing even further imbalance and cravings that can lead to all sorts of problems including obesity yet malnourishment. Isolated snacks are much less efficient than full, complete meals along with all the food supplements. Everything seems better when enjoyed together in one main meal while fasting for the rest of the time on negatively ionized water, rather than eating various and confusing bits and pieces whenever you feel like it. Separate parts need other separate parts all in one place and time to make a complete whole. Eating whole, complete meals means many other benefits as well such as fewer dishes to wash, less food preparation, less money spent on food, and more time for meditation and living, and much more energy for bliss, transmutation, higher consciousness, etc.

You may have to experiment a little and find out for yourself what works best for you with the guidance of my suggestions. You are not meant to replace your conventional diet all at once with the foods I recommend. Instead, you supplement the original foods you are used to eating with the new foods one at a time, and gradually evolve your diet into the direction of a wholeness and well-being producing regimen.
